Find an agent
It can seem very daunting trying pick the right Real Estate Agent to help you get a home but it doesn’t have to be. There are some simple steps you can take to ensure that you have picked the right one.
Talk To Previous Clients
If you can get the information from an agent on their previous clients call them and ask them if they were satisfied. See if they what their asking price was on the home and what it ended up selling for. You can see if they were able to get a deal and save some extra money.
Make Sure They Are Licensed
Each state has different licensing requirements for someone to be an agent. Find out what those are and check to make sure that whoever you chose has an up to date license.
See How Long They Have Been In Business
Often a state licensing authority will tell you how long an agent has been licensed. If not you can ask the person directly. You can also ask them how many homes they have helped sell and how many they have helped purchase. You can even ask how much total volume they have done by year.
Check Their Website
Today nearly all agents will have a website that will show all their current listings. They will probably even have a Facebook and an Instagram. Make sure you like the work they have put into their online presence and compare their other current listings to what you want.
Ask About Other Sales In The Neighborhood
One of the big drivers of asking price are the “comps” in the neighborhood. This refers to homes nearby that have been sold recently. A top Real Estate Agent will know all the most recent “comps” and be able to tell you how that will affect your purchase.
